Stop Pimping Christmas

I'm not a Christian but I'm just as appalled as any at the commercialization of Christmas that I see here. These are the list of things that I think we can do without next Christmas:
1) Fake Christmas trees with lollypops and candies as ornaments with big gingerbread house( hint: Mid Valley should revamp their interior decoration ideas) . I'm really not amused.
2) Overpriced Christmas eve dinners- nothing beats homecooked Christmas dinners. Youngsters today should really make the effort to cook dinner- you guys are taking away the essence of Christmas meals.
3) Malls should be closed- seriously, close 'em all. It's weird that we are seeing so many people loitering at the malls on Christmas Day. Malls are like the brothels for commercial ugliness.
4) Hope to see more Christmas shows/presentations that are actually beneficial- fundraising type with minimal idiots dressed up as Santarinas and Santas. Sometimes the amount of effort to pimp oneself for a show can be better used for helping out in relief efforts.
Make your every Christmas a meaningful one.

A caucasian Santa trailed me down the escalator the other day when I was there for dinner with two friends.

He was like Ho ho ho all the way down and kids who saw him really freaked out. Santa was supposed to bring joy to children but here in Malaysia, many children ran for their life when Santa was sighted. Why?

larawannabe: i just think that society is rendering profit from the festivities...i dunno about the rest, but I do feel somewhat funny about raking in revenue from sacred/holy purposes...

Endroo: i dunno why either but i do think that kids nowadays are subjected to much paranoia and caution with valid reasons too what with the crime and horrific stories you hear these days, kids no longer are able to enjoy simple delights like we used to....sad but that's what the world is closing in to.

Well, commercial or not, I'm glad to see people from all walks of life and races getting into the Xmas spirit in gift buying. It doesn't matter whether malls are exploiting Xmas, it's the Asians who are gullible. ;-)

despite the religious doctrines behind christmas, the event itself is now associated to consumerism and capitalism. loges should be able to provide accurate *ahem* explanations...haha
